Samantha Baker, PsyD is a pre-licensed psychologist with a doctoral degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). She also holds masters’ degrees in mental health counseling and clinical psychology from the same institution. She completed her APA-accredited predoctoral internship in Child and Adolescent, and Pediatric Psychology from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita, Kansas. She then completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Pediatric Psychology at Children’s Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN.
The focus of Dr. Baker’s work in psychology has been with children, adolescents, families, and young adults in varied settings. These settings include community mental health centers, schools, outpatient clinics, and hospitals. She is a certified Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) therapist and has extensive experience providing cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) for a broad range of presenting concerns, including mood disorders, ADHD, OCD, posttraumatic stress, sleep disturbance, grief and loss, and chronic pain. She has expertise in diagnosing and treating child anxiety, as well as working with youth with co-occurring medical challenges. She also has a special interest in supporting youth and families with issues of gender and sexuality.
Dr. Baker’s approach to care is collaborative and individualized, with a focus on establishing and maintaining a highly trusting and safe therapeutic environment. She uses humor, play, and art in her work to connect with individuals of all ages. Her clinical orientation is predominately cognitive behavioral, though she employs additional evidence-based therapies into her work to meet the diverse needs of her clients.
Dr. Baker holds memberships from the American Psychological Association as well as the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies and the Pennsylvania Psychological Association. She has received awards for her scholarship and research in child anxiety and has published several articles.
